Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball coach Josh Prock has announced the hiring of Jennifer Brock as the program’s new assistant coach. She served as an assistant at Fort Lewis College over the last two seasons and is expected to bring the same knowledge, experience, and toughness she exhibited as a player and coach at West Texas A&M University.
“We are extremely excited that Jennifer has decided to join us here at Eastern New Mexico,” said Prock. “We feel she will be a tremendous asset to our program both on and off the court. We feel she is someone our young women will be able to look up to and lean on for advice.”
In two years with Fort Lewis College, Brock helped the Lady Skyhawks compile a 32-22 record with a 26-18 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The team finished tied for fourth in the RMAC in 2013-14, tied for sixth last season, and reached the conference tournament each year.
Prior to Fort Lewis, Brock coached for two seasons at the University of South Carolina-Aiken, where she helped led the Pacers to a 49-12 overall record and a 29-8 mark in Peach Belt Conference play. The Pacers finished in the top three in the conference standings both years and earned their third consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament.
“I’m extremely grateful to Coach Prock for the opportunity to join the Eastern New Mexico family,” Brock said. “He and I have the same goals and vision, and I can’t wait to get started. I look forward to being a part of the community of Portales and the great things going on there.”
Prior to USC-Aiken, Brock served for four years on the West Texas A&M coaching staff. During that period, the Lady Buffs compiled a record of 101-26 and won the LSC South Division three times. WT also won the conference tournament title in 2008, 2009, and 2010; and earned the top seed in the South Central region each time. West Texas A&M advanced to the Elite Eight after winning the South Central region in 2009.
Brock transitioned to the Lady Buff coaching staff after a standout career as a point guard from 2002 through 2007. The Lady Buffs posted a 101-25 record during her career as a student-athlete, won the LSC South Division championship three times and advanced to the semifinals of the South Central region three times. Brock finished her career as a two-time LSC All-Academic selection and was also a two-time All-LSC Honorable Mention selection.
Brock graduated from West Texas A&M with a master’s in Sports and Exercise Science in May of 2008. She also received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from West Texas A&M in May of 2006.
“Coach Brock’s experience playing in the Lone Star Conference and having the success she had while playing at West Texas A&M, will be something that will greatly help our program,” Prock said. “We are looking forward to working with Coach Brock as we move into the future.”
