The Toledo women’s basketball program has added Hailey Yohn to the coaching staff as an assistant coach and the program’s recruiting coordinator, Head Coach Ginny Boggess announced.
Yohn brings 10 years of coaching experience to Toledo, most recently spending two years at UNC-Wilmington. Before her time with the Seahawks, she spent four seasons at Miami (Ohio) after beginning her career with four seasons at High Point.
“I’m incredibly fortunate to have Hailey join our coaching staff and serve as our recruiting coordinator,” said Boggess, who is entering her second season as the Rockets’ head coach. “She has a brilliant basketball mind and has a proven record of recruiting and developing talent. Throughout the process, her reputation as a connector and her growth mindset were separators. There is no doubt her passion to serve others and her love of the game will have an immediate impact on all of Team Toledo.”
During her time in Wilmington, Yohn helped guide the Seahawks’ to a nine-win improvement from 2023-24 to 2024-25, including five more CAA victories. She worked with forward Ali Zelaya, who was the league’s Defensive Player of the Year as well as an All-CAA First-Team and CAA All-Defensive selection in 2024-25. Yohn also helped elevate then-freshman Taylor Henderson to CAA All-Rookie status in 2023-24.
Yohn helped orchestrate UNCW’s improvements on the offensive end, as the Seahawks improved to second in the CAA in three-point percentage (30.4%) and free-throw percentage (72.8%), and third in scoring offense (64.2%). Individually, Zelaya finished second in the CAA in free throw percentage (81.3%) while Jania Hall was fourth (80.7%), and Kate Hollifield led the league in three-point percentage in conference games, shooting 43.5% from beyond the arc.
“I’m incredibly excited and honored to join the University of Toledo, one of the premier women’s basketball programs in the country,” said Yohn. “I have tremendous respect for Coach Boggess. She’s a proven winner and a true leader in our profession. It’s a privilege to work alongside someone of her caliber and contribute to the success of such an elite program. I can’t wait to serve this team, this community and build upon the impressive legacy of Toledo Women’s Basketball!”
Yohn helped the RedHawks earn six All-MAC awards during her stint at Miami, including three-straight seasons of postseason honors for Peyton Scott. Miami also totaled 20 student-athletes on Academic All-MAC teams during her tenure.
Yohn started at High Point as the Director of Basketball Operations in 2015-16 and was an assistant coach from 2016-19. She worked primarily with Panther guards, including 2016-17 Player of the Year Emma Bockrath. HPU totaled two 1,000-point scorers and six all-conference selections with Yohn’s guidance.
As a player, Yohn starred at Coker College (S.C.), where she was a three-year team captain. She graduated as Coker’s all-time leader with 211 three-pointers made and was selected as the team’s MVP during her sophomore season in 2012-13.
Yohn, a Durham, North Carolina native, was selected as a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) “30 Under 30” honoree in 2019 and to the Next Generation Institute Class of 2024. She was also selected to the 2015 ‘So You Want to be A Coach’ class program during her final season as a student-athlete.
