Williams elevated to Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Bethune-Cookman

Ronni Williams, Bethune-Cookman Women’s Basketball Director of Operations, has been elevated to fulltime assistant coach with the Wildcats under Head Coach Janell Crayton Del Rosario. Williams served her first season with the program during the 2024-25 campaign, arriving to B-CU from Calvary Christian in Ormond Beach, Florida.

Ronni Williams, a WNBA Draft pick out of the University of Florida, was taken by the Indian fever in the 2017 Draft.

Last season, Williams was a part of the Bethune-Cookman program that finished seventh in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and advanced to the SWAC Tournament for the first time since 2023. Along the way, she was part of the staff that oversaw the development of All-SWAC Second Team selection Asianae Nicholson, who finished the season second nationally in double-doubles (22), including 12 consecutive games to conclude the campaign. In all, Nicholson concluded the campaign atop the SWAC in rebounding (367) and rebounds per game (11.8), as well as the top 20 for blocked shots (18) and steals (51), respectively.

The Wildcats picked up a key nonconference win against South Alabama at the Hatter Classic in DeLand, Florida.

“Coach [Ronni] Williams has been a great addition to the Bethune-Cookman Women’s Basketball program,” Crayton Del Rosario stated of the former professional player. “Her hard work and expertise made her the easy and correct choice to be our next women’s basketball assistant. She will now be more responsible for on-court tasks, and her experience and ability to relate to the players will be priceless.”

Williams takes over with the departure of Britney Snowden, who is joining the staff at Mercer as an assistant coach for women’s basketball.

While serving four years with the Wildcats as an assistant coach, Snowden was valuable in B-CU logging 42 wins and two (2) SWAC Tournament appearances. In that time, B-CU collected 28 conference victories including 28 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play. In each of the last two seasons, the Maroon and Gold has possessed one of the nation’s top 20 perimeter defense with the Cats forcing nearly 21 turnovers per contest, respectfully.

“Britney Snowden has been an amazing part of this staff for four years,” remarked Crayton Del Rosario. “Her investment in this program was unmatched, and she was an integral part of helping this program grow, thrive and succeed. She is an amazing young coaching talent, and we are excited to see the great things she does in her career.”
