Boston College women’s basketball head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee has announced the hiring of Clint Williams to the staff.
Williams spent two seasons at Brown as the assistant coach, where he coached the post players.
“I’m incredibly thrilled and honored to join the Boston College women’s basketball family,” said Williams. “It’s a privilege to work alongside Coach Mac and compete in the premier conference in the country—the ACC. I’m excited to contribute to a culture that empowers young women to grow both on and off the court, and I’m ready to get to work.”
Under his direction, the trio of Giana Aiello, Alyssa Moreland and Ada Anamawke turned in career numbers at Brown.
Ada Anamawke averaged career highs across the board in 2023-24 during her senior season and led Brown in offensive rebounding while ranking 13th in the Ivy League in rebounding.
Allysa Moreland would have finished third in the league in rebounding last season if qualified at 7.3 rebounds per game this past season, while Giana Aiello more than doubled her numbers in her final campaign, averaging 9.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and shot 56.4 percent from the floor. Aiello was second in the Ivy League in blocks per game (1.14) and rebounds per game.
Williams joined the Bears after spending three seasons as an assistant with Indiana State.
Prior to Indiana State, Williams spent three seasons at Morehead State, serving as an assistant coach and the program’s recruiting coordinator. Williams oversaw the post players for Morehead State and helped the team lead the Ohio Valley Conference and finish in the top-10 in the NCAA in total blocks and blocks per game. Under Williams, the Eagles also placed among the league’s top rebounding teams.
Alongside his duties at Morehead State, Williams also served as the associate head women’s basketball coach for the U.S. Virgin Islands Senior Women’s National Team, leading the team to a berth in the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. With the
Virgin Islands National Team, he is responsible for selecting the team’s players and organizing multiple facets of the team’s program.
During his time with the U.S.V.I. Williams, he helped coach the team to a gold medal in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador, and at the 2017 FIBA Centrobasket Tournament, defeating the world’s eighth-ranked Brazil at the FIBA America’s Tournament.
Williams also served on the coaching staff of Moberly (Mo.) Area Community College, Merrimack and the men’s staff at Tuskegee.
Williams graduated from Arkansas Baptist College in 2010 with an associate’s degree in African American Leadership before transferring to finish up his basketball career at Tuskegee. Following his time at Tuskegee, he played professionally for the American Basketball Association’s Georgia Gwizzlies and the Kings team in the New Breed Basketball Association in the Virgin Islands.
He graduated from Tuskegee in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
