Westminster College Women’s Basketball Coach Rosanne Scott wins 200th Game

The Westminster College women’s basketball team defeated non-conference opponent, Penn State Beaver, by a score of 66-48 at home on Saturday.

With the victory, 18th year Head Coach Rosanne Scott won her 200th career game at the helm of the Titans.

Westminster (6-0) was tied with Penn State Beaver (5-2) by a score of 12-12 at the end of the first quarter. The Titans held a 31-29 lead at the halftime break. Westminster had 13 first half turnovers compared to nine for the Nittany Lions.

In the second half, the Titans stormed out of the gate with a 10-0 run capped off by a layup by junior guard Alazia Greaves (West Sunbury, PA / Moniteau) to give Westminster a 41-29 lead. The Titans extended their lead to a healthy 54-35 score at the end of the third quarter. Westminster outscored the Nittany Lions 23-6 in the third quarter. Westminster held on comfortably in the fourth quarter to win by a final score of 66-48.

The Titans shot 43.3% (29-67) from the field, including an 80% (4-5) mark from the free throw line. Westminster had 21 assists on its 29 baskets. Penn State Beaver was 23.2% (16-69) from the field. The Titans forced 11 turnovers and out rebounded the Nittany Lions 56-42.

Senior forward Emily Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) highlighted the day for Westminster with a 12 point, 11 rebound double-double. Fromknecht also tied her own school record for blocks in a game with seven. Senior forward Kayla Bennett (Kent, OH / Theodore Roosevelt) matched Fromknecht with 12 points of her own to go along with nine rebounds. Senior guard Brooke Lyczek (Cranberry Twp, PA / Seneca Valley) tallied 11 points off the bench on a 5-11 night from the field and first-year guard Camden Hergenrother (Salem, OH / Cardinal Mooney) chipped in 10 points and dished out a game- and career-high seven assists.

Westminster will be back on the court Wednesday, December 4 when it travels to Pittsburgh, PA to take on Chatham University on the road in both team’s first Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
