Washington College Staff Update

Washington College head women’s basketball coach Alisha Mosley has announced the hiring of Katie Crump as the Shorewomen’s assistant coach and the addition of Jillyn Coleman as a volunteer assistant coach for the team.

Crump spent the previous two seasons further south on the Eastern Shore, serving as an assistant coach at Salisbury University.

Crump played collegiate basketball at Lynchburg College, appearing in 103 games over the course of four seasons. A forward and center, she piled up 697 points, 535 rebounds, and 103 steals. She was a fixture in the starting line-up each of her final two seasons and served as a team captain as a senior. She was twiced named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll and was named Lynchburg’s "Hornet of the Week" as a sophomore.

Crump earned a B.S. in Health Promotion from Lynchburg in 2012 and an M.S. in Applied Health and Psychology from Salisbury in 2014.

Coleman was Wesley College’s first-ever female All-American in any sport. She led the Wolverines in scoring and rebounding, earning team Most Valuable Player and Wesley Female Athlete of the Year honors. At the conference level, she was an All-ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) Selection and was chosen as as the ECAC Player of the Week 15 times. She was named the 1993 NCAA Woman of the Year for the State of Delaware and was later inducted into Wesley’s Hall of Fame.

Coleman’s coaching experience includes stints as a student intern assistant coach at Wesley and as an assistant girls basketball coach at Kent County High School.

Currently the Executive Director of Kent Youth, Inc., Coleman is a certified residential program administrator. She is very active in the local community, serving as a board member for the Family and Community Partnerships of Kent County, Vice President of the Kent County Adult Softball League, and President of the Northern Bayside Umpire Association. She is a member of the Mid-Shore Umpiring Association and the Bayside Volleyball Association.

Coleman holds an A.A. in Occupational Therapy and earned her B.A. in Psychology from Wesley in 1993. She went on to receive a Master’s from Wilmington University.

Crump and Coleman join Mosley and volunteer assistant coach Steven Howard on the Shorewomen’s coaching staff.
