Washington Adventist University ADDS ASSISTANT COACH JANELLE SILVER TO STAFF

The Washington Adventist University women’s basketball team has announced the hiring of assistant coach Janelle Silver. Silver comes to WAU, from St. Thomas University (FL) where she completed her masters in Sports Administration this past may. She also served as the captain of the women’s basketball program and helped lead STU to the 2018 NAIA DII Women’s Basketball National Tournament.

Prior to working towards her master’s degree, she was a three-year member of the women’s basketball team at NCAA Division I Morgan State University. As an initial walk-on for the Lady Bears she solidified her role in the program by earning a full scholarship. In addition to her success on the court, she was on the student-athlete Dean’s List all three years of her career and earned a bachelor of arts in Communication in 2016. “I am very excited to be a part of the Lady Shock Women’s Basketball Program. I am thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to learn from Coach Lyons and the rest of the coaching staff.” Stated Silver.

Head Coach Jered Lyons Comments On Silver

This is a critical position for sustained success and we are very blessed to have Coach Silver in our program to continue that tradition. She will add value to our program immediately through her experiences, in particular, her recent trip to the NAIA National Tournament. It’s important for us to add individuals that will model the way for our program and we have found that in Coach Silver.
