Wabash Valley names Jack Trosper as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

Jack Trosper will enter the 2017-2018 season as the new assistant women’s basketball coach after a successful stint as the Head Coach at Southeastern Illinois College.

While the head coach at Southeastern Illinois College for 3 seasons, Coach Trosper turned around a women’s program with a previous 3 year record of 16-71 into a record of 55-37 with a second place in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. In season 3 they were fortunate to finish 26-6 and be recognized in the NJCAA Top 25 rankings for the first time in 10 years at SIC. They also competed in the District P Championship, falling short to #13 Wabash Valley 67-69.  He had the opportunity to coach several All-Conference/Region players and 2 Freshmen of the Year throughout his career, most recently coaching Jocelyn Taylor, who was named the GRAC and Region 24 Freshman of the Year and Bree Matthews, who was named to the first team GRAC and Region 24 teams. He was also honored as the Coach of the Year in the GRAC and Region 24.

Some of Coach Trosper’s previous work experience includes being the men’s assistant at Southeastern Illinois College, men’s assistant at Eastern New Mexico University and boys’ varsity assistant at Madisonville High School in Texas.

Coach Trosper attended Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and received a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. While at TAMUCC, he was also a student assistant for the men’s basketball program that won the 2007 Southland Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships. TAMUCC also competed in the NCAA Tournament against #2 seeded Wisconsin, which has been the only national tournament appearance in school history to date.

Head Coach Luke Scheidecker said, “I’m ecstatic to have Coach Trosper join the program.  I’ve gotten to know Jack very well over the last couple of years while he was at Southeastern Illinois.  He did a great job at SIC.  He had talented players and his teams were well-coached.  He did things the right way at SIC, just like we do here at Wabash Valley.  Coach Trosper is a great additon to the program.”
