Taylor Coleman Added to Bucknell Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff

Taylor Coleman has been named an assistant coach on the Bucknell women’s basketball staff by first-year Bison head coach Trevor Woodruff. Coleman comes to Lewisburg after spending the past two seasons on Woodruff’s coaching staff at the University of Scranton, helping the Royals win back-to-back Landmark Conference titles.

“We are excited to add Taylor to what’s shaping up as a great coaching staff here at Bucknell,” Woodruff said. “In addition to our familiarity, having seen her ability to coach and recruit the past two seasons made her a priority hire.”

Scranton went 57-5 overall and 25-3 in league play during Coleman’s two seasons with the team. The Royals won Landmark Conference regular season and tournament titles in each of those seasons. In her first season with the team in 2017-18, the Royals won the championship despite being picked third in the league’s preseason poll, and went on to advance to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The outstanding season included a 23-game winning streak.

Coleman’s second season on the staff at Scranton was even better than the first as the Royals won their fourth consecutive Landmark Conference Tournament title before advancing all the way to the NCAA Final Four. The season opened with an 18-game winning streak and closed with a top-10 national ranking.

In Coleman’s two seasons with the team, the Royals won two All-American honors, two Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year awards, two Landmark Player of the Year and one Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year accolades, and seven total All-Landmark Conference citations.

Prior to her time in Scranton, Coleman spent four seasons as an assistant at two other Division III schools. She began her collegiate coaching career with two seasons at Susquehanna University (2013-15), where she helped guide the River Hawks to a 17-9 record in the second season. That helped her and her colleagues garner Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year recognition.

Coleman followed her two years at Susquehanna with two seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater, DeSales. The team went 20-7 and won the MAC Freedom regular season title in her first season, and qualified for the NCAA Tournament with a 20-8 record in her second season.

Coleman joined the coaching ranks in 2013 after a successful playing career at DeSales, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. On the court, she was a part of two Bulldog teams that won MAC Freedom Conference titles (2010 and 2011), and served as team captain in her senior campaign of 2012-13. She went on to earn a master’s degree in instructional technology of education K-12 from DeSales.
