Sylver Joins FIU Women’s Basketball Staff

FIU women’s basketball head coach Jesyka Burks-Wiley announced the hiring of assistant coach Tim Sylver on Tuesday afternoon.

Sylver joins the Panther staff after spending one season as an assistant coach at Stetson University.

“I’ve had the fortune of working in the trenches with Tim at USF,” Coach Burks-Wiley said. “He has always impressed me with his work ethic and attention to detail. Mix that with his great basketball mind, I have no doubt Tim has bright future in this business!”

Prior to his time at Stetson, Sylver spent five seasons as the video coordinator for the USF women’s basketball program. In addition, he oversaw the program’s community service efforts and was also the team’s liaison for Enhancing U, a program that helped USF students prepare for their future after college. Sylver was also responsible for hiring and training student managers, while overseeing the practice squad. He helped organize and operate Jose Fernandez’s Coaches Clinic and other team camps as well while with the Bulls.

Sylver also spent one season as the video coordinator for the men’s basketball team at USF.

A native of Punta Gorda, Florida, Sylver graduated from USF with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication in 2013. He also served as a student assistant with the women’s basketball program for four seasons, rising to the level of head student manager. He also holds an Associate’s Degree from Edison State College.
