SEMO staff update

Southeast Missouri women’s basketball head coach Ty Margenthaler announced the additions of assistant coaches Cameron Tucker and Lavesa Glover to his staff on Friday.

"We’re excited to welcome Cameron and Lavesa to the Redhawks basketball family," Margentahler said. "Both coaches have great experience and will help our team in many ways both on and off the court."

Tucker joins the Redhawks after serving as the head coach at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland since 2013. He was the head of performance basketball for the top team in Scotland and No. 5 squad in the United Kingdom, which advanced to the elite eight in the national tournament. During his tenure, Tucker transitioned the program to the Premier Division, the top conference in the UK. He recruited student-athletes from Europe and the United States and received commitments from three eventual professional players.

"Cameron brings great coaching and recruiting experience," Margenthaler said. "His knowledge gained as a head coach can only help our basketball team in all areas. He will also serve as our recruiting coordinator."

Tucker has also worked on the women’s basketball staffs at Houston Baptist (2012-13), Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2008-12), Warner University (2007-08) and Ball State (2006-07). He was an assistant coach at Houston Baptist and during his last two seasons with UW-Milwaukee. He originally joined the UW-Milwaukee staff as a video coordinator for two seasons. Tucker was an assistant coach at Warner for one season after serving as the video coordinator at Ball State. Prior to transferring to Ball State, he was a student manager for the Iowa men’s basketball program (2003-05). He earned his bachelor’s degree in History and master’s in Physical Education with a coaching specialization from Ball State.

In addition to collegiate coaching experience, Tucker has served as a national evaluator for Blue Star Basketball (2012-14) and assistant coach for the men’s and women’s programs at New Castle (Ind.) High School.

Glover joins Southeast after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Valley City State University in North Dakota, where she was part of a program that set a school record with 24 wins in 2012-13 and advanced to the NAIA national tournament. She was responsible for developing post players and mentored an honorable mention All-American.

"We’re really happy to have Lavesa as part of our coaching staff," Margenthaler said. "She brings positive energy and will do a great job working with our post players while also having a key role in recruiting."

Prior to her stint at Valley City, Glover was the coordinator of basketball operations at UW-Milwaukee (2011-12), assisting in all administrative phases of the program. She also served as a summer camp commissioner at Marquette.

Glover played Division I basketball at Wisconsin-Green Bay (2005-09), where she was an All-Horizon League selection as a junior and senior. She led the Phoenix in scoring as a senior for a team that went undefeated in conference play, won the league title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Glover finished with 1,054 career points and still holds the school record for field goals made in a game with 17 against Wright State in a 34-point effort during her junior season.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in Electronic Media/Communications from UW-Green Bay, Glover played professionally in Australia, Poland and Finland. A native of Miami, Fla., Glover was named Miami Herald Athlete of the Year after leading Miami Dade Christian to a runner-up finish in the 2005 Florida High School Athletic Association Class 2A championship.
