Richter joins Presentation College WBB staff

Coach Matt Richter joins the Presentation College Saints’ women’s basketball program this season as the assistant to Coach Carley Jeffery. Before coming to PC, Richter coached for nine seasons in Arizona. He spent seven seasons coaching boys’ basketball at Valley Lutheran High School in Phoenix before joining the staff at Arizona Christian University as an assistant for the women’s program  from 2019-2021. In addition, he has spent time running basketball camps and clinics in the area and worked with athletes as a private skills instructor.

“I am so excited to add Matt to our coaching staff and women’s basketball program.” Jeffery said. “Matt has proven to excel in player development, recruiting and leadership — all of which will help us continue to move our program forward. Matt will be a great addition to the Presentation and Aberdeen communities as a whole, and we are excited to welcome him!”

Prior to coaching, Richter was a two-sport standout in baseball and basketball at Valley Lutheran High School. He finished his basketball career against the school’s all-time leaders in 3pt FGA, 3pt FGM, and 3pt FG%, including shooting 50% (63 for 126) as a senior from behind the arc.

“Since we first spoke, I have been a believer in Coach Jeffery and her vision to build a winning culture the right way”, says Coach Richter. “Our success, on and off the court, will be predicated on recruiting high-character and skilled student-athletes and committing to their development as athletes and as individuals. I’m excited to see what God has in store for this program.”

Richter graduated from Valparaiso University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing and completed his Master of Science in Leadership degree from Grand Canyon University in 2020.
