 J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Women’s Basketball Coach Kim Barnes Arico announced the addition of Jordann Reese as an assistant coach for the University of Michigan women’s basketball team on Thursday (June 19).

“We are thrilled to add Jordann to our program,” Barnes Arico said. “Building a staff is also like building a team, where you try to find the pieces that fit together, and Jordann is a perfect fit. Her ability to connect with people is incredible, something that really stuck out when recruiting her to Michigan. She is incredibly hardworking, humble and driven to get better every day. She helped to make Creighton one of the best teams in the country.

“Player development is a huge piece of our program here, and she helped to develop some of the best guards in the country over the last few seasons. She was a tremendous player in her own right, being a great scorer and really being a pest on the defensive end with her steals while really impacting her team as a leader. I feel like she’s going to be able to really help our guard play in that space.”

“Throughout my entire career, I’ve been fortunate to work with some incredible teachers, leaders and human beings,” Reese said. “Continuing that trend, it was a no-brainer to join the Wolverines when Coach Arico offered the opportunity. My family and I could not be more ecstatic to represent Michigan women’s basketball, and I am excited to compete for conference and national championships on a yearly basis. I’m ready to hit the ground running and continue creating an elite program that fans and alumni love to support.”

Reese joins U-M after spending five seasons at Creighton, helping the Bluejays to four 20-win seasons, four NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2022 Elite Eight. Creighton won 26 games in each of the last two seasons, reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2024. She helped Creighton lead the NCAA in assists (668), assists per game (20.2) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.59) during the Bluejays’ run to the Elite Eight in 2022.

She also served as Creighton’s recruiting coordinator since the fall of 2022.

During Reese’s time at Creighton, she was instrumental in the development of the guards, with two players earning All-Big East honors in 2025. She helped coach 2,000-point scorer Lauren Jensen, a three-time All-Big East first-teamer (2022-2025), AP and WBCA All-America honorable mention (2025), along with Molly Mogensen, who earned All-Big East honorable mention and won the Big East Co-Sportsmanship Award (2025) while completing her career with over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists.

In addition to guard development, Reese oversaw Creighton’s recruiting efforts that led to the program’s best signing class in school history, ranked at No. 23 in the country for the incoming class of 2025 (ESPN).

Prior to her time in Omaha, Reese was at Saint Louis for five seasons from 2015-20. The Billikens went 102-62 during her tenure, reaching the WNIT three times. During her first two seasons, Saint Louis won at least 25 games in both en route to multiple wins in the WNIT.

She was an assistant coach for two seasons at SIU Edwardsville, highlighted by the Cougars going 19-12 and finishing third in the Ohio Valley Conference in 2014-15.

Reese got her start on the sidelines by serving as an assistant coach for two seasons at Webster, helping Webster to the championship games of the 2012 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament.

Reese played four seasons at Drake, earning a spot on the All-MVC first team in 2009, a second-team nod in 2010 and to the all-freshman team in 2006. She ranks eighth all-time in Drake history in both steals (230) and minutes played (3,700) while coming in at No. 27 in scoring with 1,343 points.

She graduated from Drake in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She and her husband, Ryan, have a daughter, Bailey.
