Presbyterian Adds Lindsay Bowen to Coaching Staff

The Presbyterian College women’s basketball team named Lindsay Bowen to the coaching staff, head coach Ronny Fisher announced this week.

“Lindsay is certainly a tremendous hire for our basketball program,” Fisher said. “She is a proven winner who has an amazing resume as both a coach and player. Our guards are fortunate to have someone of her ability working with them. Most importantly, Lindsay is a wonderful person who will fit perfectly in the PC community.”

Prior to joining Presbyterian, Bowen served as assistant coach at Florida International for two years. In her first season with the Panthers, she helped lead the team to an 18-15 record, while winning three games in three days to advance to the semifinals of the conference tournament. Last season Bowen coached the Conference USA freshman of the year.

Bowen was a standout student-athlete at Michigan State from 2002-06. She ranks second all-time in MSU women’s basketball scoring history with 1,739 career points. Bowen was a four-time all-Big Ten academic honoree, collected Big Ten freshman of the year in 2003 and earned all-American recognition as a senior. She was named MSU women’s basketball player of the year in 2005 and ESPN 3-point shoot-out champion in 2006.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, Bowen played professionally in the WNBA with the New York Liberty in 2007-08 then in Europe from 2006-10.

“I am truly honored and blessed for the opportunity Coach Fisher has given me,” Bowen said. “I’m excited to work with an amazing group of young women, as well as learn and grow under Coach Fisher. I’m happy to be a part of the PC women’s basketball family. Everyone has been so welcoming and I can’t think of a better community to be involved in.”
