Tasha Pointer will not return as head coach of the UIC women’s basketball program, Director of Athletics Michael Lipitz announced.
 
“We thank Coach Pointer for her contributions on and off the court over the past four years and wish her and her family well moving forward,” said Lipitz. “We are committed to building a women’s basketball program that will compete at the highest level and determined that a leadership change was needed at this time.”
 
In Pointer’s four seasons at the helm, the Flames were 11-94 overall and 5-66 in conference play. UIC was 2-25 in the recently completed 2021-22 campaign.
 
UIC will immediately conduct a comprehensive national search for its next head women’s basketball coach.  The Flames will join the Missouri Valley Conference beginning in 2022-23.
