Parsons named Women’s Basketball Head Coach at Albright

Alyssa Parsons has been named the ninth head women’s basketball coach in school history as announced by the Albright athletic department and Athletic Director Rick Ferry. Parsons comes to Albright after her most recent stop as assistant women’s basketball coach at Rider University during the 2024-25 season.

The 2025-26 Albright women’s basketball season will have a new face on the sidelines when the season kicks off in early November. Parsons will take over for Janice Luck who announced she is stepping down earlier this year after 23 seasons in charge of the women’s basketball program.

“We are thrilled to welcome Alyssa to Albright. We had a deep pool of candidates to succeed Coach Luck and Alyssa emerged from that group. High energy, authenticity, preparation and grittiness are all traits she demonstrated. Alyssa will be a very good match with Albright Athletics and our women’s basketball program.” Said, Athletic Director Rick Ferry.

Coach Parsons has spent time coaching at the Division I and III levels. Parsons coaching career began at Pratt Institute as an assistant coach and was later named the interim head coach at Pratt. During her time with the institution Parsons led one student-athlete to a Coast-to-Coast All-Conference Second Team selection.

After Pratt, Parsons spent two seasons at Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom Division member institution Stevens Institute of Technology. At Stevens, Parsons served as the assistant coach assisting the head coach in all aspects of the program. In just two seasons with the Ducks, Parsons developed seven student-athletes into All-Conference players including leading two of them to MAC Freedom Player of the Year and MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year Honors.

While at Stevens Institute of Technology Parsons helped the Ducks to a 36-18 record during her two seasons with the team, including an NCAA Tournament berth following the 2022-23 season.

Parsons most recent coaching stop came at her alma mater in Rider University. After a four-year playing career at the University Parsons returned as an assistant coach this past season. Much like a player Parsons made an immediate impact as a coach assisting the team in all day-to-day operations of a Division I program including fundraising, academic support and player development.

“I am incredibly honored and excited to be named the head women’s basketball coach at Albright College. I want to thank Athletic Director Rick Ferry, the administration and everyone involved in this process for believing in me and entrusting me with this opportunity. I am especially grateful for my aunt Kate and the incredible circle of friends who have supported me every step of the way.” Said, Coach Parsons. “Coach Luck has built an extraordinary legacy as the winningest coach in program history. I have the upmost respect for all she has accomplished. I am committed to honoring that legacy while bringing my own energy, vision, and relentless drive to elevate the program even further. I look forward to building strong relationships with our student athletes and supporting them both on and off the court. Together we will continue the proud tradition of Albright women’s basketball. Go Lions!”

In four years playing for the Rider Broncos, Parsons appeared in 78 career games while serving as a team captain for three of those seasons.

Parsons graduated from Rider with a bachelor’s degree in finance. Furthermore, Parsons continued her education graduating from Drexel University with a master’s degree in finance and would later go on to earn a juris doctor degree in business and entrepreneurship from Drexel.
