Parkside Women’s Basketball Adds Dejane’ James as Graduate Assistant Coach

Parkside Athletics along with Parkside Women’s Basketball is pleased to announce the hiring of Dejane’ James as the Graduate Assistant Coach for Women’s Basketball. James is a 2019 graduate from Johnson C. Smith University after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communications.

A Hartford, Conn. native, James played her high school basketball at Weaver High School. While at Weaver, James earned All-State, All-Conference, and Scholar Athlete Honors, as well as being named to Second Team All-USA by USA Today. Following high school, she attended Hampton University, where she played for three years. As the starting point guard, Dejane’ helped the Lady Pirates qualify for the NCAA tournament in 2017 when they won the MEAC Tournament.

“Our program is very happy to announce the addition of Dejane’. She has a great understanding of basketball, works hard, and is eager to get on the court to work with our team,” said head coach Jen Conely. “We are excited to have her join our staff and look forward to working with her!”

Off the court, James earned Dean’s List honors every semester at Hampton. James transferred to Johnson C. Smith University after three years at Hampton. Dejane’ also made President’s List both semesters at Johnson C. Smith.

“I’m extremely excited and blessed to be joining the Parkside family,” James said. “They have given me the opportunity to further my education and start my coaching career. I’m ready to get to work and start this new chapter of my life.”
