Olivier resigns as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at UNLV

UNLV Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois confirmed Friday that she has accepted the resignation of Kathy Olivier as head women’s basketball coach.
Olivier served as the seventh head coach in program history, spending 12 seasons leading the Lady Rebels (2008-20).

“I want to thank Kathy and her staff for their contributions to our women’s basketball program,” Reed-Francois said. “We wish her well and know that she will continue to remain involved with the program as a decorated alumnae.”

Under Olivier’s leadership, the Lady Rebels earned their first Mountain West championship by tying for first during the 2017-18 season. She also led UNLV to three postseason WNIT appearances.

“Thank you to Desiree and our entire support staff for their dedication to our program,” Olivier said. “I am proud of the accomplishments that we were able to achieve together. We have a talented team and I am confident that our ladies will stay focused on reaching success in the classroom, on the court and in the community.”

A national search to find Olivier’s successor will begin immediately.
