Olivia Lett Joins University of Chicago Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff

Head Women’s Basketball Coach Carissa Sain Knoche announced on Tuesday that Olivia Lett has been hired as a full-time assistant coach on the University of Chicago women’s basketball staff.

“We are so excited to welcome Olivia to our program,” Sain Knoche said. “Coming from Illinois Wesleyan University, she has great playing and coaching experience within this very competitive region. She also has great enthusiasm for all that comes with this type of coaching position. She will be an asset in all phases of our program and we are thrilled to finally get started!”

Lett arrives at the Hyde Park campus from her alma mater Illinois Wesleyan University, where she spent the past three seasons as an assistant women’s basketball coach. She graduated from IWU in 2012 with a degree in mathematics.

As a collegiate basketball player, Lett initially competed at NCAA Division I Southern Illinois University before transferring to IWU in the middle of her sophomore season. She proceeded to become one of the top players in school history – Lett ranks No. 2 in free-throw percentage (.829), No. 5 in points (1,354), No. 7 in field goals (474), No. 7 in free throws (271), No. 10 in three-pointers (135) and No. 11 in assists (240).

She capped her career by leading the Titans to the 2012 NCAA Division III national title and a 28-5 overall record. Lett averaging 21.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game as a senior, earning First Team All-American and D3Hoops.com “Player of the Year” distinction. She set new IWU single-season records for points (719), field goals (251), free throws (167) and blocks (37). After graduation, Lett played professionally for the Universitario de Ferrol basketball team in Spain.
