Mykenzie Larsen Introduced as New Women’s Assistant Basketball Coach at Illinois College

Head Coach Jennifer McCormick of the Illinois College women’s basketball team is pleased to announce the hiring of Mykenzie Larsen as her new assistant coach. Larsen is a recent graduate of Beloit College and spent three years playing for McCormick.

“I am very excited to welcome Mykenzie to the IC family,” said McCormick. “Mykenzie brings leadership experience, knowledge of the Midwest Conference, and she is the exact personality we want in our program. She will be a great fit for our coaching staff and the Illinois College campus community.”

Larsen recently completed her Bachelor of Science in Health and Society, with a minor in Chemistry. As a basketball player for Beloit, she served as a co-captain during the 2015-16 season under McCormick and played in 55 games in her career. She also was the Beloit president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for more than a year and was part of the I-LEAD Leadership Institute.

“I’d like to thank Mike Snyder, the search committee and Jennifer McCormick for their time spent during this process,” Larsen said. “I am very excited for the opportunity to join the Lady Blues program. I can’t wait to be a part of the Jacksonville community, as well as a college who takes such pride in their athletics.”

The Lady Blues compiled an 11-12 record during their first season under McCormick. Four starters return for the 2017-18 season as well as six other letter winners from the 2016-17 campaign.
