Mountain Resigns as Pacific University Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Pacific University head women’s basketball coach Jennifer Mountain has announced her resignation with the Boxers program effective Friday, June 9.

Mountain recently finished her second season as the Boxers’ head coach and eighth as a head coach. Before coming to Pacific, she served as the associate head coach at NCAA Division I member, Portland State. Mountain served as the head coach at NCAA Division I, Santa Clara. from 2008-14. She was integral in the turn-around of the women’s basketball program as an assistant coach at Gonzaga from 2002-08.

While at Pacific, she was instrumental in the tutelage of one of the program’s top players in Sarah Curl. In both of her years under Mountain, Curl earned first team all-Northwest Conference and all-region honors. As a senior, Curl was also named honorable mention All-American by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and D3hoops.com.

Pacific University has begun a national search for her replacement. “”I would like to thank Jen for her good work as our head women’s basketball coach over the past two seasons. She has made a positive impact on our athletic department and our women’s basketball program. I wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” said Pacific athletic director Ken Schumann.

“I would like to thank Ken and the entire athletic department for my time here at Pacific,” said Mountain. “It was an honor to serve as the head women’s basketball coach at Pacific University for the last two years. I wish the best for the program in the future. Plus, the relationships that I have developed as a coach over the last 25 years will be filled with a lifetime of memories.”
