Mims to leave women’s basketball post at Mount Mercy College at season’s end

Mount Mercy Head Women’s Basketball Coach Micha Mims ’12 has decided to step down at the conclusion of the 2019-20 season to pursue other professional opportunities, Athletic Director Paul Gavin announced today. The search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

The Mustangs compiled a 25-67 record during her first three seasons and are 4-17 overall and 1-15 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference this year. Mims returned to her alma mater to lead the women’s basketball program in March 2016 after serving as an assistant coach at Culver-Stockton for two years.

Mims was inducted into the Mount Mercy Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018. During a three-year playing career with the Mustangs, she was an NAIA Division II all-American, first-team all-Midwest Collegiate Conference selection, and academic all-conference. Mims helped the Mustangs reach the quarterfinals of the 2012 NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship.
