Miller named assistant women’s basketball coach at Marietta College

Marietta College head women’s basketball coach Kole Vivian announced the hiring of Maggie Miller as the program’s top assistant coach.

“We are excited to have Maggie join to our staff. She had a tremendous amount of success as a student-athlete at Mount Union winning multiple OAC titles and making deep NCAA tournament runs,” Vivian said. “Maggie is a great communicator and is very detailed, making her a perfect fit working with our players. I couldn’t be more thrilled to add someone of Maggie’s character and personality to our team as we look to keep climbing in the OAC.”

Miller comes to Marietta after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. Miller was responsible for breaking down game film and creating scouting reports on the Quaker opponents. In addition, she served as the head junior varsity coach and recruiting coordinator.

Prior to Earlham, Miller served two years as a graduate assistant for facilities marketing and event management at Defiance College. She also served as a volunteer assistant coach with the Yellow Jacket women’s basketball team during the 2014-15 season.

The Salem, Ohio native played collegiately at the University of Mount Union helping the Purple Raiders to three Ohio Athletic Conference titles and three appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Miller’s class finished as the winningest in program history with a 100-18 career record.

Miller graduated from the University of Mount Union in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sport Business. She completed a Master of Business Administration Degree in Sport Management at Defiance College in 2015.

Marietta opens the 2017-18 season on November 15 at Adrian College. The Pioneers’ home opener is slated for November 19 against Transylvania University. The 33rd annual Jim Meagle Turkey Shoot is set for November 25-26 in Ban Johnson Arena.
