Michael Alon to Not Return as Yeshiva Women’s Basketball Coach

Michael Alon will not be returning as head women’s basketball coach at Yeshiva University. Alon spent five years on the sidelines for the MACS, and the program recorded an improvement in both overall and Skyline Conference wins in each of his years.

His 2019-20 campaign saw YU win seven games overall and four in the conference, including victories over St. Joseph’s-LI and Purchase. He recruited and developed three all-conference players during his tenure, including Skyline Conference second-team selection this past season, Yuval Nitzan, who was a freshman.

“Mike has helped to put this program in a solid place for the future” said Director of Athletics, Joe Bednarsh. “His ability to recruit, connect with kids, and help them grow into quality adults is something we will sorely miss.”

A search for Alon’s successor will take place immediately.
