Miami University Hires Assistant

Miami University head women’s basketball coach Cleve Wright announced the hiring of Alioune Ndiaye as a new assistant coach on Monday. Ndiaye comes to the RedHawks from St. John’s, where he spent the past two seasons as the team’s video coordinator.

“We are very excited to have Alioune join our staff,” said Wright. “He is a great fit for our program and brings great energy and enthusiasm to our team. He will have many responsibilities, including working with the post players and recruiting.”

While at St. John’s Ndiaye was in charge of analyzing video of all the team’s practices, providing detailed reports to the head coach. He assisted head coach Joe Tartamella with the scouting of opponents and directed the scouting meeting. He also coordinated the team’s film exchange during his time with the Red Storm.

Prior to working with St. John’s, Ndiaye was an assistant coach with the women’s basketball team at Dowling College in Oakdale, N.Y. In his two seasons with the Golden Lions, Dowling went 52-11 and advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championship game in 2013. Ndiaye was in charge of coaching the post players for the Golden Lions, while assisting in scouting, recruiting and coordination of off-campus community service programs.

Ndiaye was a three-year letterwinner for Dowling College from 2007-10. A starting center for two years, he ranks third on the Golden Lions’ all-time single-season list with 44 blocks in 2009.

“I want to thank Coach Cleve Wright for giving me this opportunity,” said Ndiaye. “The culture that he has created for the program is outstanding. I am excited and ready to learn the Miami Way. My family and I are thrilled to become a part of this Miami Univeristy Women’s Basketball Family!

Ndiaye is a native Senegal and is fluent in English, French and Wolof. He received his bachelor’s degree in finance from Dowling in 2010. He earned a master’s degree in education from Dowling in 2013.

Ndiaye and his wife Danielle have two daughters, Lailah (3) and Milania (1).
