McPhee-McCuin Finalizes Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Staff for 2018-19 Season

Ole Miss women’s basketball head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has finalized her staff for her first season in 2018-19 with the additions of Michonne Gamble-Rivers (Coordinator of Player Development), Buck Mahan (Coordinator of Video Services) and Chelsea Wolf (Assistant Director of On-Campus Recruiting).

“When I accepted this leadership position here at Ole Miss, my intent was to equip our ladies with people who were passionate about serving, who have highly-competitive spirits, who were extremely talented individuals, and were people who truly believe in my vision,” McPhee-McCuin said. “In order for me to assemble my staff, I took my time so that I could get exactly what I felt this program would need to move into a new era. There is no doubt in my mind that I accomplished that with this staff. I am blessed to be around such great minds that will help achieve our ultimate goal: to restore this program back to its winning ways, and to create a positive environment for our student-athletes.”

Michonne Gamble-Rivers | Coordinator of Player Development
Gamble-Rivers previously worked with McPhee-McCuin at Jacksonville as the Director of Player Development during her final two seasons at JU in 2017 and 2018.

“Michonné is a perfect match for the young ladies that are present on our team, as well as the ones that will join the program in the future,” McPhee-McCuin said. “She is passionate about the growth of young women and she is a total team player. One of my goals is to equip our student-athletes with the skill and tools for them to be successful, and I am confident that Michonné will help with this.”

Prior to her time at Jacksonville, she worked six years at City Neighbors High School in Baltimore, Maryland. While there, she served as a student advisor and the Director of Special Projects. She was also tasked with designing and updating the school’s website as a technical support specialist.

Gamble-Rivers also worked at The Met School, where she tutored and led educational efforts for underrepresented students in the Providence, Rhode Island, area.

She received bachelor’s degrees in human development & family studies and business administration from the University of Rhode Island in 2008, and she completed her master’s in leadership & learning from Jacksonville in 2018.

Buck Mahan | Coordinator of Video Services
Ed “Buck” Mahan joins McPhee-McCuin’s staff after working the 2018 season at his alma mater, Clemson, as the video coordinator.

“I am excited that he is a part our family here at Ole Miss,” McPhee-McCuin said. “He was a part of our championship staff at Jacksonville. He is extremely passionate about his role on this staff, and Buck will continue to be impactful here. His work ethic is unmatched.”

Mahan spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach on McPhee-McCuin’s staff at Jacksonville, where he helped the Dolphins to an Atlantic Sun title and the program’s first NCAA Tournament berth in 2016. During his two seasons at Jacksonville, Mahan used statistical analysis to enhance the team’s on-court performance, ran the team’s social media accounts and created recruiting materials and highlight videos.

He also has experience working with a WNBA team, as he served as the assistant video coordinator for the Connecticut Sun during the 2017 season. In that position, he organized film for scouting reports and postgame analysis, and used programs such as SportsCode and JustPlay to assist the staff with scouting opponents during the season.

Mahan spent two seasons from 2013-15 as a graduate assistant director of operations and analytics at Marshall.

Mahan, who graduated from Clemson in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematical sciences with a focus in statistics, was the head student manager and equipment manager for the Tigers during his undergraduate career. He was the first-ever CLEMMYs award winner, as he was the recipient of the Unsung Hero Award at the Clemson Athletic Department’s first-ever athletic and academics award show.

Chelsea Wolf | Assistant Director of On-Campus Recruiting
Chelsea Wolf comes to Ole Miss after serving the last two seasons at Monmouth as their Director of Women’s Basketball Operations in 2017 and 2018.

“Chelsea is an extremely hard worker,” McPhee-McCuin said. “I’ve always been impressed with her willingness to work and help in every way possible. When I got here, I knew that Chelsea would be phenomenal in this role. She’s creative, resourceful, and she will be a tremendous asset in creating memorable experiences for any prospect that visits our beautiful campus.”

Wolf also served in similar roles at Siena in 2016 and UL-Lafayette in 2015 – the latter of which put together a 23-12 campaign and won the 2015 WBI title.

Her first position in Division I was as a graduate assistant coach at LIU Brooklyn during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. She also previously served as an assistant coach at Division III programs Centenary (N.J.) College (2011-12) and Middlesex County (N.J.) College (2009-10). Wolf spent three years as a coach of the Central Jersey Cardinals AAU U11 program and guided her team to a 2012 NJ AAU State Championship that also qualified for the AAU Nationals.

A native of Pine Brook, N.J., Wolf graduated with her bachelor’s in contemporary art from Ramapo (N.J.) College in 2009, where she was a member of the women’s basketball, cross country and track & field teams. Wolf earned her master’s in media arts from LIU Brooklyn in 2014.
