McCormick named Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Merrimack

The Merrimack College women’s basketball team announced on Wednesday afternoon that former graduate student Paige McCormick will be joining their staff for the upcoming season.

“Paige has been on my radar to become a part of my staff as soon as the opportunity presented itself,” said head coach Kelly Morrone  “The addition of another assistant coach is the perfect time to welcome her back.  “She’s hungry, motivated to work, and has had a tremendous experience at St. Lawrence this past year.  I look for people who maximize their time and potential.  Paige doesn’t stand by and wait for things to happen; she makes things happen.  Our players will feel that sentiment through her coaching style on the court, complemented with being a reliable resource off of the court.”

McCormick spent one season in North Andover after spending time at both the University of Massachusetts and Roberts Wesleyan University. In her lone season with the Warriors she averaged 5.8 points per game. She had a season-high 17 points and six steals against the University of New Hampshire.

I am honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to return to Merrimack as an assistant coach this season,” said McCormick. ” The coaching staff has done a great job developing and leading this program to where it is now and I look forward to adding my experience and what I have learned in my time away to continue to propel this program in a positive direction.”

After graduation, McCormick was named an assistant coach for the men’s team at St. Lawrence University. In her one season with the Saints, she guided the program to 19 wins and a NCAA Tournament appearance, the program’s first since the 2016-17 season.
