York College announced the resignation of head women’s basketball coach Jason Marshall, effective immediately. The Cardinals are moving forward with a national search for their next head women’s basketball coach.
Hired in September 2023, Marshall led York for two campaigns, coaching student-athletes who earned individual accolades including one All-Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Honorable Mention, two CUNYAC All-Stars, and a pair of CUNYAC Sportsmanship Team citations. He also further developed 1,000-point scorer Alicia Gumbs, who finished with 1,316 points to rank third all-time on York’s career scoring list.
Over the past two seasons, York garnered eight MBWA Divisions II-III Player of the Week Honorable Mentions, as well as three CUNYAC Player of the Week Honorable Mention laurels. In the classroom, the Cardinals produced one CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll recipient and received a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Women’s Basketball Team® honor.
A longtime NCAA Division I assistant coach, Marshall recorded his first career victory at York with a 54–45 home triumph over Pratt Institute on February 20, 2024. After winning three of its final seven games to close out the 2024–25 season, Marshall concluded his tenure at York with a 55–37 road win at SUNY Old Westbury (Feb. 24).
Marshall leaves York with a two-year record of 4–36.
