Lindenwood adds Robinson to Coaching Staff

Lindenwood women’s basketball has named Ayriell Robinson as the new assistant coach.

Head Coach Tony Francis brought Robinson back to the St. Louis area after coaching her at Saint Louis University.  Robinson was a member of the Billikens basketball team for two years before graduating in 2011.  Ayriell spent one year at St. Mary’s Academy in New Orleans, La. before helping Angelina College to three-straight NJCAA Region XIV conference tournament appearances.  Last season, Robinson was a member of the coaching staff at Southeastern Louisiana as an assistant coach.

Francis explained the excitement about adding Robinson to the coaching staff, “Ayriell is an outstanding addition to our staff and to this program.”  Francis noted, “She works extremely hard, is passionate about teaching, and most importantly, is a genuine human being.”  Francis closed, “Ayriell will be a great mentor to our young women and play an instrumental role in taking this program to the next level in the MIAA as well as the NCAA.”

During her freshman season of high school in New Orleans, Robinson was coached by Janet Eaton.  Eaton is entering her third season at Indiana State, and has remained a mentor to Robinson over the past decade.

Coach Eaton had nothing but great words to say about Robinson, “Ayriell is a hard-working individual with a wonderful personality. In my mind, she is a diamond in the rough in the profession.”  Eaton continued, “She needs very little instruction, but welcomes it when offered. She will be a positive role model for the players and a very good assistant coach.”  While smiling, Eaton ended, “I enjoyed coaching her and will always be in her ‘fan club’.”

Robinson will replace two-year assistant coach, Morgan Harrington, who has taken the head coaching job for the girl’s team at Francis Howell High School.
