Head women’s basketball coach Curt Fredrickson announced that assistant coach Paula Krueger has been promoted to Associate Head Coach for the 2016-17 season.
“We are very excited to get the basketball season started and also excited that coach Krueger was promoted to the Associate Head Coach position,” noted Fredrickson. “Being from the area and a former player; she understands how important Wolves Basketball is to this community. Her coaching experiences at many different levels will certainly help our program at NSU.”
“I am humbled and honored to be promoted to the position of associate head coach,” explained Krueger. “This program, university, and community are home to me and I am excited to see what this season brings.”
Krueger enters her eighth season and second stint with the Wolves and Fredrickson, after making a head coaching stop at Colorado School of Mines from 2003-10. The former Wolves student-athlete spent six seasons beginning in 1997 as the women’s basketball assistant coach and head softball coach. In her first stint with NSU, the Wolves notched both a first and second round appearance in the NCAA Division II North Central Regional. A season ago, Northern notched a 23-8 overall record earning their third straight NSIC North Division crown, as well as reaching the NCAA post-season for the third consecutive season.
As a Wolves student-athlete, Krueger was a member of the 1992 and 1994 NAIA National Championship teams. She earned the NAIA Hustle Award in the 1992-93 post-season and was also the NAIA Division II National Tournament MP in 1994. Krueger is a member of the NSU Hall of Fame and was the 1933-94 Hildred Wolfe Female Athlete of the Year.
