Augustana women’s basketball head coach Nate Vogel has announced the hiring of Ameh Ogbemudia as assistant coach for the Vikings.

Ogbemudia arrives in Sioux Falls following three seasons as assistant women’s basketball coach and assistant sports information director at Waldorf University. With the Warriors, she assisted with player development, recruiting coordination in the Midwest and Texas regions, travel itineraries and vendor coordination all while managing the program’s social media presence.

“Ameh is a tremendous addition to our staff,” said Vogel. “She has been a head AAU coach in Minnesota and has recruited in our region for many years. Ameh was highly recommended by multiple people that I respect and trust. I’m excited to add her to our Augustana Women’s Basketball family.”

Prior to Waldorf, Ogbemudia served as assistant coach at North Central University, an NCAA DIII institution in Elliot Park, Minnesota. She helped the head coach with recruiting, film breakdown and team diagnostics.

Ogbemudia has also served as a tournament director and head coach for the Minnesota Suns AAU team. She has planned and coordinated summer tournaments, assigned work responsibilities and duties and connected with vendors since 2020.

A graduate of Walford University, Ogbemudia earned her degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology in 2019. She was a standout basketball player for four years with the Warriors, eclipsing 1000+ career points.

“I’m incredibly honored and excited to join Augustana University as the new women’s basketball assistant coach,” said Ogbemudia. “This is an amazing opportunity to grow, learn, and compete at a high level, and I can’t wait to get started with this talented group. I’m looking forward to being a part of the NSIC and contributing to the continued success of this program. Let’s get to work — Go Vikings!”
