Kates-Taylor Named To Cowgirl Staff

Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team has added Rebecca Kates-Taylor to its coaching staff it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jim Littell.

“Rebecca is energetic and has a strong work ethic,” Littell said. “She has the ability to communicate with young people and will be a positive influence on our program both on and off the floor.”

“She also has strong connections in Oklahoma and Texas which will make her an important addition to our program.”

A native of Cashion, Okla., Kates-Taylor most recently worked as an assistant coach at Mississippi, spending the 2012-13 campaign with the Rebels.

“Having the chance to coach and recruit in my home state was very appealing to me,” Kates-Taylor said. “Coach Littell has won everywhere he has been and is very genuine and loyal. I look forward to joining a staff of hard workers and building on the success they have had in Stillwater.”

From 2008-12, she served as an assistant coach at Rice University, helping the Owls to appearances in the WNIT in 2011 and the WBI in 2012. During her time in Houston, Kates-Taylor coached six players to all-conference postseason honors.

Kates-Taylor began her coaching career at Tulsa in 2007 after spending two seasons as the director of operations for Rice.

A four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at Mississippi State, Kates-Taylor helped the Bulldogs to NCAA appearances in 2002 and 2003 as well as a WNIT berth in 2005. She received her degree from MSU in communications with an emphasis in broadcasting and public relations.
