JR Giddens named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Northern New Mexico

Northern New Mexico College has announced the hiring of our new Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Justin (JR) Giddens.

Giddens, a former McDonald’s All American, graduate of University of New Mexico, and first round draft selection by the Boston Celtics in the 2008 NBA draft, has just been named the 6th Head Coach in Eagles history. Giddens replaces second year Head Coach, Mario Caetano, as Caetano resigned to take an Associate Head Coaching position at NCAA Division II Adams State University.

“It is not very often that you can hire a coach with a career this versatile at a small school like Northern”, said Athletic Director, Ryan Cordova. “He will continue to bring professionalism, strategy, and a hard work ethic to the program that previous Head Coach Mario Caetano, left behind. The fact that he has played for some of the best coaches in college basketball, and some of the best coaches in the world, gives him an opportunity to carve his own path as a Head Coach utilizing the best qualities that he has absorbed as a player”.
