The Head Coach of Women’s Basketball is responsible for the organization and administration of all aspects of the sport or sports activities including supervision, teaching and implementing skills and strategies, recruiting, budget development, scheduling, purchasing, facility maintenance, public relations, community outreach, and implementation of NCAA policies and regulations. In the role of Coordinator of Athletic Facilities, this position will oversee the scheduling of athletic facilities and ensure the preparedness of facilities for athletic events and activities.Responsibilities include:

-Organize and implement a successful student-athlete recruiting program in conjunction with the Coordinator of Athletic Recruiting.

-Ensure that athletes have completed all required eligibility forms etc. prior to participating. Keep the Director notified of all changes in the team roster.

-Explain and demonstrate use of apparatus and equipment. Maintain an updated inventory of all supplies and equipment used. Develop and submit to the Director of Athletics detailed inventories following final intercollegiate contests.

-Control the care of all athletic equipment and uniforms.

-Explain and demonstrate principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of body, hands, or feet to achieve proficiency in activity. Observe students during practice to detect and correct mistakes.

-Function effectively as a bench coach – making effective split second decisions under the stress of competition.

-Provide leadership in establishing, regulating, publicizing, and enforcing all team regulations regarding personal conduct. Ensure that personal conduct, policies, procedures, and regulations of organizations to which the university belongs including the NCAA, ECAC, MAC are adhered to.

-Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations. Cooperate with the Athletic Trainer and other University health personnel in the care and prevention of injury. Notify appropriate personnel of all injuries requiring attention by a physician.

-Organize and conduct competition and tournaments including but not limited to securing timers, scorers, and other personnel needed for the direct operation of home athletic contests. Cooperate with the Coordinator of Athletic Facilities in directing the preparation of facilities to be used in competition for each home athletic contest.

-Following the final intercollegiate contest of the season, develop a list of varsity award recipients and develops a written review of the season including the team roster, season record with game by game scores, individual and team all-time records established, and a narrative summary of season highlights.

-Cooperate in the delivery of a program of social and educational support for athletes.

-Select team personnel.

-In conjunction with the Athletic staff, develop a game schedule for each year.

-Cooperate with the Director of Athletics in developing an informational bulletin for the University community detailing travel rosters and times when students will be involved in athletic travel and participation in athletic contests.

-Cooperate with the office of the Sports Information Director in compiling and submitting to the media and other offices statistics as required or appropriate; assist in informing various news outlets of contest results both at home and away immediately following each contest.

-Keep record of receipts and expenditures. Draw all funds needed for travel and supplies through the Director of Athletics. Provide a financial accounting within two days after an athletic contest.

-Confer with the Director of Athletics in developing the budget including the identification of supplies, equipment, and uniforms needed for the next season.

-Enhance the visibility of Misericordia athletics through participation in sports camps and clinics.

-Coordinate with the maintenance department to facilitate an effective program of daily maintenance of all athletic facilities is conducted.

-Ensure that appropriate supervision and safety are provided at all times when facilities are available for use.

-Oversee the scheduling of all athletic facilities for team practices, intercollegiate competition, intramurals, informal recreation, and special events.

-In conjunction with the Coordinator of Athletic Operations, ensure that Anderson Center and other athletic facilities are prepared for athletic events and activities.

-Work in conjunction with Coordinator of Fitness Center.

Evening and weekend hours to include team travel, recruiting and scouting. Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university. One to two years previous coaching experience and/or training and competitive background indicative of the ability to coach successfully in a NCAA Division III liberal arts college environment. Working knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations.
