About the Department and/or College

The Director of Player Development reports directly to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach. This individual is responsible for preparing student-athletes for personal, academic and athletic development success. This position will serve as an offensive and defensive analytical advisor, as well as assisting in the creative aspect of on/off campus recruiting & social media. This role is responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big 12 Conference and NCAA.

Major/Essential Functions

•    Analyze Texas Tech and opponent film and collaborate with the coaches in preparation of competition strategy.
•    Chart and record statistics to forecast efforts for basketball plays, student-athletes and the team, providing advanced modeling of successful approaches to game strategy for the coaching staff.
•    Create and implement individual development plans to ensure student-athletes’ needs are addressed and met as they relate to academics and/or personal goals.
•    Manage, schedule, & create personal development goals & community involvement for players.
•    Content manager on all women’s basketball creative and information-based productions, including direct oversite of social media, multimedia, creative video, photography, and graphic design.
•    Create, schedule, and work on projects including but not limited to:

o Team highlights
o Graphics/Recruiting Edits o Intro videos
o Public Service Announcements
o Game recaps
o Quick hits

•    Promote in season awards (All American campaigns, Cheryl Miller Award, etc…)
•    Social Media Engagement- Top 5 WBB Social interaction
•    Under the direction of the basketball recruiting coordinator, review recruiting documentation, organize plan and schedule on campus recruiting visits. Prepare general correspondence and assist in all areas of recruiting as allowed by the NCAA according to Bylaw 11.7.2.
•    Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with some supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal four years.

Preferred Qualifications

•    Previous experience coaching or playing at the collegiate level or working in an athletic department setting
•    Extensive graphic design & video editing experience preferred. Experience with intercollegiate basketball as a student-athlete or coach preferred. Knowledge of NCAA, Big 12 Conference, University and Department rules and guidelines preferred.
