IPFW Will Not Renew Contract Of Head Coach Chris Paul

IPFW Director of Athletics Kelley Hartley Hutton has announced that the contract of women’s basketball head coach Chris Paul will not be renewed, ending Paul’s 16 seasons with the program, the last 10-plus as head coach.  The Mastodons completed 2015-16 with a record of 7-23 overall, 3-13 in The Summit League.

“We would like to thank Chris for his service to IPFW, the women’s basketball program and our student-athletes,” said Hartley Hutton.  “He has been a great ambassador for our University, especially in the Fort Wayne community.  These decisions are very difficult and we wish Chris nothing but the best in the future.”

Paul compiled an overall record of 125-195 at IPFW, taking over the head coaching duties on an interim basis December 21, 2005, before being named to the permanent position March 22, 2006.  The Mastodons have attained a Summit League record of 67-84 since joining the league in 2007.  IPFW’s best season under Paul was 2010-11 when the program finished 20-11 overall, 13-5 in the Summit League and played in the postseason 2011 Women’s Basketball Invitational (WBI).  The program also played in the 2014 WBI, finishing 15-15 in 2013-14.  Paul is the longest-tenured and winningest head coach in the 40-year history of the program.

Hartley Hutton said that the school will conduct a national search for its new head coach.
