Hoyt inks extension through 2025 season at Kansas City

Kansas City Women’s Basketball Head Coach Jacie Hoyt has signed a contract extension to remain the Roos’ coach through the 2025 season, the athletic department has announced.

“I am incredibly grateful to Chancellor Agrawal and Dr. Martin for their belief in me and the direction our program is headed,” Hoyt said. “My staff and players have poured everything they have into building something special here, and I feel incredibly thankful to be on this journey with them. None of this happens without their hard work.”

In her four years at the helm, Hoyt has led the Roos to a 58-56 record, including the program’s first-ever conference championship and NCAA Tournament bid in 2019-20. Hoyt also earned WAC Coach of the Year and Kansas City ESPY Coach of the Year honors in the 2019-20 season after posting a 13-3 conference record.

“Coach Hoyt truly represents our departmental hallmark of comprehensive excellence. Her leadership of student-athletes academically, player development, and program integrity has been nothing short of extraordinary,” Director of Athletics Brandon Martin said. “Coach Hoyt’s extension is well deserved and is a true representation of the upward trajectory of our program.”

Hoyt picked up her 50th-career victory on Dec. 9, 2020, an 80-60 victory over William Jewell. With the win, she became the first Kansas City coach to reach the 50-victory milestone since the legendary Brian Agler.

“Kansas City is such a special place to my husband and I, and we couldn’t be more excited about our future here,” Hoyt said.

Hoyt will begin her fifth season with the Roos this year, bringing in eight new student-athletes. Summit League play will begin in late December, and the Roos’ non-conference schedule will be released in the upcoming weeks.
