Howell resigns as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Graceland

On Wednesday, April 22, Frank Howell resigned as the women’s basketball head coach at Graceland University after four seasons at the helm. Assistant coach Uyen Tran will remain on staff and continue recruiting and running off-season workouts.

Howell has been with the Yellowjackets for four seasons, during which time he coached one All-American student-athlete, nine Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) all-conference student-athletes, and five Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. He also saw one player recognized as a Liston Award winner in 2018, an annual honor given for high athletic and scholastic achievement to one NAIA women’s/men’s basketball student-athlete. Most importantly, Howell created a supportive culture on his team, and Graceland wishes him the best of luck in his new endeavor.

Athletic Director Brady McKillip said, “We want to thank Coach Howell for his service to our student-athletes and the department over the last four years. He always brought an infectious smile and positive attitude with him to work. We honor his decision to resign and wish the best for him and his family.”

“Our focus now will be to find the best person for the job to continue to move the women’s basketball program at Graceland forward,” McKillip continued.

Graceland will immediately commence a national search for a new head coach.
