Following an extensive search, Georgetown College women’s basketball coach James Jackson found he did not have to look far for his new assistant. The Tigers welcome Kylee Gorby, a 2016 graduate of Asbury University and Kentucky native to the staff.
“Kylee stood out to me from day one,” Jackson said. “Starting with our phone conversations to her on campus interview she made this an easy decision for me. Her passion for the game, willingness and desire to learn, unlimited amount of energy and how well she related and interacted with our athletes made her the clear favorite.
“Her enthusiasm and work ethic has already paid dividends in recruiting and off season workouts. Kylee is a rising-star in coaching, and we are fortunate and blessed to have her at GC.”
As a point guard for the Eagles, Gorby helped Asbury to its winningest four years – 98-34 – as well as back-to-back national tournament appearances and KIAC tournament titles. In 2015-16, AU advanced to the second round of the national tournament.
Individually, Gorby was first-team all-conference and NAIA All-Tournament in her senior season. She accumulated 1,197 points, 410 assists and 452 rebounds as an Eagle.
“I am very honored and excited to be at Georgetown College,” Gorby said. “I am very thankful for the opportunity Coach Jackson has given me and look forward to helping him build the women’s basketball program into a national title contender. With the outstanding support we have from the college, we have everything we need to make it happen.”
Gorby is a mass communications major and a native of Leitchfield
