Following the announcement earlier this month of two staff position changes, Fordham women’s basketball head coach Stephanie Gaitley has today announced three new hires to round out her staff for the upcoming 2021-22 campaign. Joining the program are Liz Brown as Director of Administration, Paige Corkins as the team’s Video Analyst, and former Ram, Lauren Holden, as the team’s new Coordinator of Recruiting and Player Development.
Holden’s name will be very familiar to fans of the program as Fordham’s all-time leader in minutes played (4,492), helping lead the Rams to the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship, capping an incredible four years, nearly all of them in the starting lineup. Holden is one of 20 student-athletes in the program’s history to score over 1,000 career points and is also second in career games played (132), third in starts (117), third in three-pointers (213), and fourth in career free-throw rate (85.3%). After graduating, Holden followed former Fordham Associate Head Coach Angelika Szumilo to Fairleigh Dickinson where she served as assistant coach for the past two years.
“I’m beyond excited to have Lauren back as a Ram.” Gaitley said, “She gained great experience under Ang at FDU. She had a great impact as a player and I anticipate her having a significant one as a coach. She has a great future in this game!”
Brown will also be a familiar name to anyone following the Atlantic 10 in recent seasons as she graduated from Richmond in 2015. Following her playing career with the Spiders, Brown worked as an assistant coach at the University of New Haven for two years, earning her Master’s degree in Sports Management, before serving as both assistant coach and Director of Basketball Operations at Marshall.
“I have known Liz for a number of years. I recruited her and played against her while she was at Richmond. We have gotten close over the years and I had been helping her with her coaching career. Liz is a players coach and will add great value to our post play. I’m excited to see and help her grow as a coach.”
Corkins graduated from nearby Concordia College in 2017 before transitioning directly into coaching as an assistant with her alma mater for the past three seasons. As a player, Corkins is in the top-20 in the program’s history in rebounding, including 15th in offensive boards. As a coach, the Clippers reached the NCAA Division II Regionals.
“I’ve had the opportunity to get to know and mentor Paige over the last few years. We were doing mock interviews together to prep her for job interviews. Then we had an opening and she was the perfect fit. Paige has great energy and a terrific work ethic. She will be a great addition to our staff.”
