Florida International Suspends Head Women’s Basketball Coach Marlin Chinn

Florida International University has suspended its first-year women’s basketball coach, Marlin Chinn, in the wake of a player’s accusations that he has been making unwanted sexual advances toward her.

The university issued a statement Tuesday afternoon which read: “FIU is conducting an investigation into allegations made against coach Marlin Chinn. Based on the allegations, the university has suspended coach Chinn, pending the outcome of the investigation. Because this is an ongoing investigation, the university will not provide additional comments at this time.”

FIU women’s basketball team captain Destini Feagin claims first-year women’s basketball head coach Marlin Chinn has been pursuing a sexual relationship with her much of the season according to a report in the Miami Herald.

The accusations include:

  • Player alleges coach Marlin Chinn suspended her for refusing sexual advances
  • Inappropriate remarks started after first-year coach joined the team
  • Coach allegedly loaned player $600 for school bill
