Franklin & Marshall women’s basketball coach Kirsten Richter announced the addition of Kelsey Florian to the Diplomats’ coaching staff for the upcoming season.
“Kelsey will be a tremendous asset to all facets of our program and we are excited to welcome her to F&M,” said Richter. “She brings great experience to our team, having coached in the Ivy League, as well as spending two years on a staff at Ithaca College that made two trips to the NCAA Tournament.”
Florian was recently an assistant women’s basketball coach at Cornell University for the 2015-16 season, assisting in all aspects of recruiting, developing scouting reports and overseeing student workers and managers.
From 2013-15 she was a graduate assistant with Ithaca College, helping to guide the program to unprecedented heights during her tenure. The Bombers secured a pair of Empire 8 Championships and qualified for the NCAA Tournament each season, including the program’s first-ever Elite 8 run in 2013-14. Florian received her Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences from Ithaca in May 2015.
A two-sport athlete at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minn., Florian was MIAC Conference Honorable Mention, Sixth Player of the Year, a member of the Sportsmanship Team and a captain during her time on the basketball team. She also competed on the volleyball team throughout her time at the college. Florian graduated from Gustavus Adolphus in June 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Fitness.
