Duke’s Joanne P. McCallie Earns 600th Career Victory

The 14th-ranked Duke women’s basketball team defeated Liberty, 68-51, Friday evening in Cameron Indoor Stadium. With the victory, head coach Joanne P. McCallie became the 15th fastest women’s basketball coach to reach 600 wins, accomplishing it in only 821 games. The Blue Devils improved to 11-2 on the season and 9-0 in Durham.

The ACC Coach of the Year in 2010, 2012 and 2013, Coach P is her 11th season at the helm of the Blue Devils’ program.

Coach P has guided the program to a 284-73 overall record, a 121-33 mark in ACC action and nine NCAA Tournament selections, including a No. 1 seed in 2009 and four straight Elite Eight appearances from 2010-13. She led Duke to four consecutive ACC regular season titles in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 and three ACC Championships in 2010, 2011 and 2013.

She has also served as the head coach at Michigan State (149-75 / 7 seasons) and the University of Maine (167-73 / 8 seasons).
