Dan Lang Named Xavier Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

Xavier head women’s basketball coach Melanie Moore has named Dan Lang as an assistant coach. Lang joins the Musketeers after seven seasons as the head coach SUNY Sullivan.

“Dan is an incredible coach with head coaching experience,” said Moore. “He took over a program and turned them into winners right away. He is a grinder and knows what it takes to win championships. I am ecstatic to work alongside Dan and he will have an immediate impact on our program.”

In seven seasons with the Lady Generals, he compiled a 149-53 overall record with four Mid-Hudson Conference Championships. He posted five 20-win seasons and set the program record for wins with 26 during the 2013-14 season. The 2013-14 team finished the year ranked sixth in the nation, the highest ranking in school history.

Prior to SUNY Sullivan, Lang was an assistant men’s basketball coach at Orange County CC – helping the team post a 22-9 overall record. He also spent one season (2010-11) as an assistant coach at Paul VI Catholic HS, helping the team win its fifth consecutive state title.

Lang played basketball at Orange County CC for two seasons before transferring to Coastal Carolina University. He served as student manager for the women’s basketball team at Coastal Carolina.

Lang earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management and recreation from Coastal Carolina in 2010.
