The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor announced the hiring of Zenarae Antoine as the next head coach for the women’s basketball program.
Coach Antoine comes to UMHB after 15 seasons as the head women’s basketball coach at NCAA Division I Texas State University with a 225-232 overall record. Antoine led the Bobcats to five postseason appearances, including a 2023 Sun Belt Championship. Antoine was also named Sun Belt Coach of the Year, Dave Campbell’s Basketball All-Texas Coach of the Year and Women’s Asian Coach of the Year (Global Sports & Events). Coach Antoine has coached 16 all-conference student-athletes, including the Sun Belt Player of the Year, with 17 1,000-point scorers and multiple student-athletes that have gone on to play professionally during her head coaching tenure.
Antoine also held recruiting coordinator jobs at Arkansas and Louisville, helping those programs to a combined five nationally-ranked recruiting classes. She also served as assistant coach at Ohio University and College of Charleston with two NCAA appearances as a coach during her career.
“From the moment I stepped onto campus, I knew UMHB was where our next chapter was meant to be,” Antoine said. “Life has a way of leading us down unexpected paths, but when we fully surrender to God’s plan, our purpose becomes clear in ways we could never orchestrate on our own. I’m truly honored and excited to join the UMHB family and the greater Belton community. I’m deeply grateful to Dr. O’Rear and Dr. Sims for the trust and opportunity they’ve extended to me. I’m ready to pour my heart into this program, serve these student-athletes and help bring their vision for women’s basketball to life.”
Antoine holds a bachelor of science degree from Colorado State University and a master’s degree in athletic administration from Ohio University. She was a three-year starter at Colorado State, where she helped the Rams to a pair of league titles and two NCAA appearances.
Antoine is a native of Katy. She and her husband, Ronald, have three sons, Zavier, Zachary and Zayden.
