Connecticut College Women’s Basketball head coach Brian Wilson has announced the hiring of Kanika Cummings as a member of the program’s coaching staff. Cummings is a 2014 graduate of Siena College, where she was a four-year letter winner for the Saints while majoring in Creative Arts.
“We are excited to welcome Kanika to the women’s basketball family,” said Wilson in a statement. “As a division one scholarship student athlete, she brings new experience and perspective to our program. In addition to her playing experience, she brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm and we are confident that she will add value across all levels of our student athletes’ lives.”
Cummings joins Brian Fleming and Leah Rubega to round out the 201617 women’s basketball coaching staff.
“We are very excited about our staff this year,” said Wilson. “We are blessed to have the continuity of Coach Fleming and Coach Rubega both returning for their third season. We look forward to integrating Kanika into this staff.”
“I’m incredibly happy to join not only this rising basketball program but also the Connecticut College community,” Cummings said. “I hope I can provide the knowledge from my previous basketball experiences and bring a positive energy that every team needs. I can’t wait for the season to begin!”
Cummings was most recently an assistant coach at Oxford High School in Oxford, Conn. She will work primarily with perimeter players while assisting in various aspects of the basketball program.
Cummings, a Monroe, Conn. native, is a 2010 graduate of Masuk High School where she was a McDonald’s All-American nominee, a First Team All-Conference selection and second team All-State honoree.
