Corcoran added to Cornell Women’s Basketball Staff as Assistant Coach

Cornell University Rebecca Quinn Morgan ’60 Head Coach of Women’s Basketball, Emily Garner, has announced her first addition to the 2024-25 staff. Garner is adding Colleen Corcoran as an assistant on staff, the first of her additions. Corcoran brings experience from the America East and Ivy League along with her.

“I couldn’t be more excited to add Colleen to our coaching staff,” said Garner. “Having worked at Albany & Dartmouth, she’s familiar with the area, and the Ivy League, and is ready to hit the ground running. Colleen brings tremendous energy and passion for the game- she’s a connector and relationship builder and will help us in all areas of the program. We’re thrilled to have her on board.”

Prior to joining the Big Red, Corcoran was involved in all phases of the day-to-day operations of the women’s basketball office at UAlbany, where she served as the team’s Director of Basketball Operations in her second stint with the school. She focused on office and team budgetary matters and team travel and assisted in the operations of the annual basketball camps.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve as assistant women’s basketball coach at Cornell University,” said Corcoran. “With Cornell’s commitment to the student-athlete experience, I am eager to work with Emily [Garner] to build a strong tradition in the Ivy League. I look forward to working with the team and creating relationships within the department, the university, and the Cornell community.”

Corcoran got her first full-time start in women’s hoops with Dartmouth women’s basketball in the 2022-23 season. She served as the Big Green’s Director of Basketball Operations and oversaw all administrative functions of the program. In addition to organizing the team’s schedules and travel plans, she also served as the team’s social media manager and content creator.

Corcoran got her start with the Great Danes, serving as the Graduate Assistant Coach for two seasons while earning her master’s degree. Her primary responsibilities consisted of working with the communications department for social media and content creation, coordinating student-athlete community service opportunities, and creating the monthly alumni newsletter.

A four-year women’s basketball student-athlete, Corcoran graduated from Le Moyne College in May 2020. A two-year captain of the Dolphins, she led her team to an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2019. The starting forward was set for her second NCAA appearance in 2020 before the tournament was canceled.

A native of Beverly, Mass., Corcoran holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master of Arts in Higher Education from UAlbany.
