Following a national search, Director of Athletics Dan Kuntz has officially announced the hire of Lindsay Goldblatt as the new Cal Lutheran head women’s basketball coach, effective Aug. 19.
A native of Southern California, Goldblatt is no stranger to Ventura County as she will take a short trip to Thousand Oaks from her previous position at Moorpark College where she led the Lady Raiders for six seasons.
During her tenure at MC her squads advanced to three consecutive CCCAA playoff berths and an Elite Eight finish in 2012-13, which was the best program finish since 1996. Goldblatt accumulated 94 victories, with 15 or more in all but one season, at the helm of the MC women’s basketball program after being named the head coach at the age of 23. Last winter the Lady Raiders produced 19 wins and Goldblatt had seven scholar athletes as well as a Second Team All-State player.
Her ties to Southern California will benefit the Regals program in the future as she has established herself in the area as a highly respected, competitive, passionate and caring coach and leader. Additionally, she has proven to be a strong recruiter with a solid local network.
A vital role at the Division III level, Goldblatt has proven her ability in supporting her athletes in every aspect of their experience as student-athletes
“Whenever you can find a coach who is focused on both the passion of the sport and also the passion of the student-athlete to support them you have found a good coach, “Kuntz went on, “And I think that Lindsay fits that bill very well.”
Excited by the opportunity to move into the NCAA Division III ranks, Goldblatt is anxious to get started.
“Everyone has been extremely welcoming,” the newest member of the CLU staff shared. “I heard great things about the family environment and I have definitely gotten that feeling on campus.”
She is looking forward to meeting her new team in the coming weeks and is enthusiastic about the challenge in front of her to continue the success that the Regals basketball program has exemplified over the last few years.
One way she will be able to do that is by using the network she has already created, saying, “I believe that being local is a benefit and knowing the area and the local talent is an advantage.”
Prior to being named the head coach at Moorpark, Goldblatt spent a year as an assistant at her alma mater.
Her playing days began at El Camino Real HS where she was a letter-winner in basketball, volleyball and softball. She went on to play both basketball and softball at Moorpark before transferring to San Diego State where she was a walk-on point guard for the Aztecs for two seasons.
