La Salle women’s basketball coach Jeff Williams is pleased to announce the hiring of Christal Caldwell as the Director of Basketball Operations and an Assistant Coach.
“I’m very excited about the hiring of Christal Caldwell, we’re lucky to have her,” said Williams. “She played major college basketball at West Virginia and professionally overseas so she knows what it takes to get to the next level.”
Caldwell joins the Explorers after spending the last two summers as the Head Camp Counselor for various women’s basketball camps in Charlotte, N.C. There she designed training activities and led group activities for camp participants.
“I’m really excited for the opportunity to work with Coach Williams and the La Salle women’s basketball program,” said Caldwell. “I’ve always known I wanted to go into coaching and I’m excited to help these girls get to the next level.”
After a decorated career as a guard at West Virginia, Caldwell played professionally for FIBA’s Sepsi SIC in Romania. The Charlotte native was a four-year letterwinner for the Mountaineers, scoring 1,246 career points and earning All-Big East Honorable Mention as a sophomore and All-Big 12 First Team as a senior.
Caldwell earned a degree in Psychology from West Virginia, where she also minored in Child Development and Communications.
