Chandler, Arizona—Chandler Gilbert College Athletic Director Ed Yeager is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Head Women’s Basketball Coach. Fletcher Brown will be taking over the Women’s Basketball program in addition to serving as the Sports Information Director with the Athletics Department.
Brown comes to Chandler Gilbert College after serving as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of Maine Fort Kent for the past four seasons. In three full seasons as a head coach Brown compiled a 48-31 record, Brown also lead his team to the USCAA National Championship game in only his second season and recruited and developed many successful student athletes including USCAA All-Americans Tajaheray McMahan, Savana Jankowski, Ranika Guyton and National Player of the Year, Trinity Washington. Brown’s teams also excelled academically maintaining an average GPA of 3.3 over the course of three years and every player who played their Senior season under Coach Brown graduated with their Bachelors degree.
Prior to becoming a Head Coach, the San Francisco, CA native competed for two years at Contra Costa Community College in San Pablo, CA before transferring to the University of Maine at Fort Kent for his final two seasons of play. Upon graduation Brown served as the Assistant Men’s Basketball at his alma mater where he was influential in the teams two consecutive number one overall seed finishes heading into the USCAA National Tournament.
Athletic Director Ed Yeager said, “”After a great list of qualified candidates I’m excited to announce Fletcher Brown as our new women’s basketball coach, as he brings a very accomplished resume. We are pleased to welcome him to the Coyote Athletics family and look forward to the future of our women’s basketball program.”
Brown obtained his Bachelors degree from the University of Maine Fort Kent and recently completed his Masters in Leadership and Organizational Studies from the University of Southern Maine.
